Nottingham Forest defeated Manchester City to go four points clear of the reigning champions with 10 games of the campaign remaining.
This was a day for the ages at the City Ground. The noise was deafening when Forest opened the scoring with seven minutes remaining through a Callum Hudson-Odoi goal at the near post.
Forest are still firmly in the mix for Champions League football next season. Despite what many believe, the Reds aren’t going away at the moment and travel to Ipswich next weekend looking to cement things further.
Ola Aina was praised for his efforts against City. He offered a reminder of why Forest have to get him tied down to a new contract and hopefully something more long-term is in the offing.
As Nuno Espirito Santo claimed, however, this was all about the team and the performance was one that Forest can take a lot of heart from going into the last months of the season.

Michael Owen raves about Callum Hudson-Odoi vs Manchester City
Owen knows a thing or two about scoring goals in the Premier League. The former Liverpool striker sits eleventh on the all-time list with 150 goals to his name.
The striker was often known as a man for the big occasion and that’s something that he’s now been keen to praise Hudson-Odoi for after his goalscoring heroics against City.

He told Premier League Productions: “A lot of people can score goals when it’s 5-0 and you get the fifth but you’ve got to get the big ones, the important ones, he’s scored here, he scored against Liverpool and it was an amazing performance from him, amazing!”
Hudson-Odoi has now scored 13 goals for Forest since signing in 2023. His strike on Saturday was the third time he’s scored in five games and he’s bagged against City as well as Liverpool this season.

This was a top performance from Hudson-Odoi and it’s fair to say that he’s always been the man for the big occasion since arriving at Forest.
Nothing seems to faze him and when the pressure starts to heat up, there is very rarely a sign that Hudson-Odoi is going to wilt.

It would be superb if the 24-year-old could grab even more goals as the season progresses but for him to be playing regularly in the Premier League again is a solid starting point.
Hudson-Odoi might have had two goals were it not for the brilliance of Ederson on Saturday and he will now hope to remain on the goal trail as the season draws to an exciting finish.
