Alexander Isak, Kieran Trippier, Jamaal Lascelles: Newcastle United injury list & expected return dates.
Newcastle United will be without some key players for two massive games this week.
The Magpies are in Premier League action this evening, taking on West Ham United at the London Stadium before returning to the capital for the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday.
Last week was an unsettling one for Eddie Howe’s side, first losing Anthony Gordon to a three-match suspension and then Lewis Hall and Sven Botman to surgery.
When will those players return? And how are other players shaping up? We take a look:
Alexander Isak
The Sweden international was forced to withdraw before Newcastle’s FA Cup defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion went to extra-time.
What’s Eddie Howe said?
“He's fine. Sunday he came off, he was just feeling a bit fatigued, I think, towards the end of the game, a bit tight in his body, so we withdrew him,” Howe said at his pre-West Ham press conference.
“I'm just trying to think back to this week, but I think he's trained every day - he's good.”
When asked whether Isak would start against West Ham, Howe re-lied: “Fingers crossed, yeah. As I said, if he's fit, he'll play, because that's the best way to get him in the best physical condition for future games.”

Lewis Hall
Hall missed Newcastle’s FA Cup exit to Brighton with a foot injury and after further assessment, the left-back will undergo surgery and miss the rest of the campaign.
What’s Eddie Howe said?
Howe said: “Yeah, really disappointed for Lewis. Devastated for him, actually, because he had so much to look forward to at this moment of the season. Obviously, the cup final will be a big thing for all the players at the moment.
“Lewis also had possible international experience coming up. And he was just in really good form as well and playing very well. So, yeah, that's a big blow for him, for us.
“The most important thing now is his recovery and making sure he comes back as good as he's been.”

Kieran Trippier
Trippier was withdrawn in the 70th minute against Brighton after feeling some discomfort in his back.
What’s Eddie Howe said?
When asked about Trippier, Howe said: “No [more injuries], we've still got two more training sessions before Monday night's game, but at the moment that would be enough, and fingers crossed we can keep everyone else fit.”

West Ham United (A) 10/03
Sven Botman
Botman last featured for Newcastle in their Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg win over Arsenal on February 5 due to a knee issue.
He was thought to be close to returning against Brighton but still felt some discomfort in training. Further assessment revealed the Dutchman requires surgery and has been given a recovery time of eight weeks.
What’s Eddie Howe said?
“With Sven, we've been trying to get him back to full fitness and he was actually very close for the Brighton game,” Howe said on Friday.
“Just the day before, one of the last actions in training, he felt the same problem in his knee. So that meant, again, just sort of a resetting. We still hoped he could come back.
“But then this week, again, he's felt the same discomfort. So it looks like he'll now have to have an operation.
“This has come actually from a knock in one of his first games back. And again, he didn't feel it was a big issue. But I think, without going too technically, he just needs a real small operation just to clear out some fluid, and then he'll be fine again.”
Expected return date
Brighton & Hove Albion (A) 03/05
Jamaal Lascelles
Lascelles has not featured in almost 12 months after suffering an ACL injury during the 4-3 comeback victory over West Ham United.
What’s Eddie Howe said?
Howe said on Friday: “He’s making good progress. He’s back on the grass, not training with the team yet but I’d say he’d be happy with where he’s at currently.
He’s super lean (and) super fit. He is now entering the last phase of his recovery from injury and, hopefully, we’ll see him soon.”
Expected return date
April 2025
Anthony Gordon
Gordon was shown a straight red card in the FA Cup defeat to Brighton and will miss the next three matches.
What’s Eddie Howe said?
Howe said: "He said a couple of words to the players in the dressing room and I think at that stage everyone was highly emotional, anyway. He did the right thing and stood up and took accountability."
