Liverpool confirm new£300m adidas kit deal after ditching Nike to reunite with German giants

Liverpool have been with Nike since 2020

Liverpool have confirmed they will switch kit manufacturers in August as the Reds team up with German giants adidas again.

The club have described it as a multi-year deal but it is understood it is for the next five years and worth in excess of £300m. It is believed to be in line with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City who are paid around £60m a year in deals with Adidas, Nike and Puma.

The Premier League record is the £90m a year deal Manchester United currently have with Adidas, although that is understood to have deductions for failure to qualify for Champions League and other sporting success.

Liverpool are ending their five-year partnership with Nike, who replaced New Balance in 2020. That deal was worth a minimum of £30m but with royalties, commissions and promotions from the likes of Liverpool shareholder LeBron James it was closer to £60m a season.

Liverpool last partnered with Adidas between 2006 and 2012. The German sportswear giant will provide kits and training wear for the men’s, women’s and academy teams. The new deal begins on August 1 this summer.

Billy Hogan, chief executive officer, Liverpool Football Club, said: “Everyone at the club is incredibly excited to welcome adidas back into the LFC family.

“We have enjoyed fantastic success together in the past and created some of the most iconic LFC kits of all time. adidas and Liverpool share an ambition of success and we couldn’t be more excited to partner together again as we look forward to creating more incredible kits to help drive on pitch performance. We’d like to thank Nike for their support over the last five years and wish them well for the future."
