Graham Potter is looking for a third consecutive win as West Ham welcome Newcastle United to The London Stadium on Monday.

After a slow start to life for Potter in East London, the Irons have settled into a rhythm with recent wins against Arsenal and Leicester in the Premier League.

Newcastle travel to The London Stadium for what is their final game before the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday.

West Ham sit 16th in the Premier League, although with 16 points separating them from the relegation zone, they aren’t under any real threat this term.

The Magpies are likely to be a tougher test than Leicester, but Julen Lopetegui managed to pick up all three points in the reverse fixture.

In addition to this, Newcastle also have the cup final to worry about.

With Anthony Gordon suspended after his red card against Brighton, whether Eddie Howe will be prepared to risk the likes of Alexander Isak is yet to be seen.

Writing for BBC Sport, Chris Sutton has seen more positives under Potter, saying: “West Ham are showing signs of improvement under Graham Potter and are going for a third-straight win.

“Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s first problem is who is fit and available. I don’t think Howe will rest anyone ahead of next weekend’s Carabao Cup final, because his side are still going for a top-five finish and it would be huge for the club if they make it back into the Champions League.

“All of that, on top of West Ham’s current form, makes me think this will end up in a draw. Prediction: 1-1.”

Newcastle win could be a turning point for West Ham

West Ham have finally found the right formula under Potter, and a third win would consolidate that.

Newcastle are among the Premier League’s best, so another three points would be a good sign of progression under the management of Potter.

After this battle, West Ham have a string of tough games ahead, but if they can go into that run with a bit of momentum, it will put them on a good path.

If the Premier League has shown anything this term, it’s that anyone can beat anyone, but after a slow start, Potter undoubtedly could do with getting a run going to end the season on a high note.

David Sullivan and the board will be planning for next season and beyond, with little left to play for but pride right now at the London Stadium.
