Chelsea handed boost as Barca drop interest in Portugese star

Chelsea have been handed a massive boost in the pursuit of Portugese star this summer. The player was also looked upon by Barcelona but they have now dropped their interest in him.

The Blues are set for a very busy summer transfer window. They are set to sign striker, winger, midfielder, two or more defenders and possible a keeper. As for winger, they have many big names linked with the club like Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens.

Another winger linked with move to Stamford Bridge is Rafael Leao. The Blues tried to sign him in 2022 but were put off by his asking price. AC Milan were demanding €150 million at that time but now are reported to have lowered their demands.

Leao is still looked upon by Chelsea and the Blues can step-up their interest in summer. But, the Portugese winger has been looked upon by many other top clubs. One of them is Barcelona who were the first to knock the door in december.

Barcelona shift their focus from Leao handing Chelsea lead in race

El Nacional Cat have reported that Barca director Deco prefers Ademola Lookman over Rafael Leao. Hence, the Spanish club can be absent from Leao race this summer. This will hand a direct boost to Chelsea who can get the deal done.

AC Milan are set to miss out on UCL football next season. This will result in their top players leaving the club. Along with Leao, Theo Hernandez is also set to leave who is also linked with a move to Premier League.

Milan will have a new release clause activate in Leao’s contract this summer. It is around €175 million but as mentioned above, the Italian giants will let him leave for much lower fee. It is said that €100 million will be enough to lure the Portugese away from San Siro this summer.
