It’s official, Liverpool will be back wearing Adidas kits from the 2025/26 season.
The Reds have been decked out in Nike for the past five seasons having signed a deal back in 2020.
However, with the American sportswear firm being somewhat hit and miss in the eyes of a lot of Liverpool supporters, Adidas are set to make their return.
For plenty of the Anfield faithful, kits made by the German company have been some of the very best in Liverpool history.
And as the Reds gear up to wear the three stripes once again, here’s our top five Liverpool Adidas kits from the manufacturer’s previous run from 2006-2012.
5. Away kit 2009/10
The 2009/10 season was a poor one for Liverpool, with Rafa Benitez’s side suffering a hangover from a year in which they came so close to winning the Premier League.
However, the kits were still on point. Adidas made the ever-popular decision to put out a black away shirt, with some eye-catching gold trim.

The kit was not a particularly successful one in terms of on-pitch results, but a memorable Fernando Torres header at Old Trafford while pairing the shirt with gold shorts stands out as a good moment.

4. Home kit 2008-10
During their six years as Liverpool’s kit maker, Adidas only released three home shirts. That will be different this time out, but this was back in the days where a kit would last for two seasons.
Given how good both the efforts of 2006-08 and 2008-10 in particular were, no Liverpool supporter will have minded.

In our opinion, while we do love the 06-08 offering, the kit worn when the Reds went so close to a Premier League title in 08/09 just pips it.
This really should have been a league-winning kit. With Torres at his peak and an incredible supporting cast led by Steven Gerrard, Liverpool at least looked good while finishing second.
3. Away kit 2008/09
Liverpool’s 2008/09 season truly was a memorable one. It really felt like the Reds were on their way to doing something special.
And while they ultimately fell just short, the campaign did deliver one of the best results of recent Liverpool history.

Jurgen Klopp’s team may have eclipsed it with their 5-0 win in 2021, but until then, Liverpool’s 4-1 victory at Old Trafford in 2009 remained a landmark moment.
They achieved it cladded out in a superb grey and red number which was reminiscent of the iconic ‘Candy’ away kit of 1989/90. A fantastic effort from Adidas.

2. Third kit 2006/07
This was an absolute beauty. Liverpool signed a deal with Adidas in 2006 after being kitted out by Reebok for the previous 10 years.
And straight out of the gate, Adidas smashed it. Three superb kits were delivered in 2006/07, with a classic combination of red for home, yellow for away and white and green for the third.
In our opinion, it’s the third which really takes the cake. Liverpool didn’t wear this shirt often, but they did pick up a memorable come-from-behind win against Barcelona in the Camp Nou in February 2007 and for that, it will forever remain iconic.

1. Third kit 2008/09
Obviously, we have chosen to leave out Liverpool’s Adidas kits from 1985-96, simply because there are far too many good ones to choose from.
But in terms of the most recent kits from 2006-12, there’s little argument that the brilliant emerald green third kit effort of 2008/09 wins the day.

This really is a gorgeous effort, with the black shorts and green or white socks completing a stylish look for Liverpool.
The Reds did not often wear this ensemble, and good luck to anyone trying to get their hands on one today. If rumours are to be believed, Adidas are going for a similar colour for Liverpool’s third kit in 2025/26. It will take some going to beat this one.
