Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer.
The Swede has undoubtedly been Newcastle United’s best player this season – his goals have taken them to Champions League contention.
So far this campaign, Alexander Isak has scored 22 goals in all competitions, including 19 in the Premier League. Isak will have the opportunity to add to his tally on Monday night when Newcastle travel to West Ham United for an incredibly important league clash.
There is sure to be eyes on the 25-year-old during the game, with reports claiming that Liverpool want to sign Isak in the summer. The Reds are at risk of losing Mohamed Salah in the summer and are looking for a big name to replace him – they believe Isak is that player.
Journalist David Ornstein claimed Isak to Liverpool will be a ‘big story‘ in the summer, but Newcastle will be eager to keep a hold of him past this season.
With Isak’s future up in the air, Toon legend Alan Shearer has made a brilliant statement regarding the proposed move to Merseyside.

Shearer is a big fan of Isak, the Newcastle legend has been very vocal on social media and television about how well he has been doing throughout the campaign.

In a recent episode of Match Of The Day, Shearer said that Isak was ‘world-class‘, putting him in the same regard as Salah and Erling Haaland.
Now, on the latest episode of The Rest Is Football podcast, Gary Lineker brought up that Isak has been linked with Liverpool to which Micah Richards asked Shearer how much he thinks Isak is worth.
“(Liverpool) can be linked all they want,” Shearer said.
“Why would you sell him? Why would Newcastle even contemplate selling him?”
Lineker bit back at Shearer, saying “They could build a team for £150m, whatever it would be.”
Shearer then responded with: “You might just get his left foot for £150m.”
Isak was linked with a move to Arsenal in January but by no means would he have been cheap. Reports suggest that Newcastle would only sell Isak for £150m, which would smash the British transfer record.

While rumours around his future continue to circle, Isak is committed to Newcastle until the end of the season at least.
Newcastle want to give Isak a new contract in the summer, with the Swede expected to become the Mapgies’ highest earner if he signs.

Isak has a huge opportunity to show his devotion to Newcastle next Sunday in the Carabao Cup final where he will face off against his big admirers Liverpool for a chance to end a 70-year wait for a domestic trophy.
The Swede has already shown what he can do against Arne Slot’s side this season, scoring in Newcastle’s dramatic 3-3 draw against Liverpool at St James’ Park in December.
Isak will be in contention to start against West Ham on Monday but must keep himself fit before the biggest game of Newcastle’s season a few days later.
