Microsoft has announced a big upgrade to its Copilot Think Deeper. It is now powered by OpenAI's latest o3-mini-high model, which has capabilities similar to OpenAI's o1 reasoning models but with faster processing and improved efficiency. Users will now have newer insights and more relevant answers, and AI that better keeps up with current information.

Microsoft is giving free access to a reasoning model equivalent to ChatGPT Pro's capabilities to all Copilot users.

Yusuf Mehdi, a Microsoft executive, said on social media: "Think Deeper just got smarter. Now powered by o3-mini-high free in Copilot. That means fresher insights, more relevant answers, and AI that keeps up with the world, right when you need it."

The timeline of these changes began last September when OpenAI announced the o1-series AI models for complex reasoning. In October, Microsoft brought the Think Deeper to Copilot Pro users. Earlier this year, Think Deeper became available to all Copilot users with initial usage limits, which were later removed, as reported by Neowin.

This change makes new AI reasoning tools available to more people, which could affect how people use and interact with AI.
