Gary Neville speaking on Sky Sports
Gary Neville has shared his thoughts on Liverpool's imminent title
Gary Neville believes Liverpool’s name is already being engraved into the Premier League trophy after issuing a “painful” prediction.
The Reds sit 15 points clear at the top of the table after beating struggling Southampton at Anfield, with Arsenal being held by Manchester United over the weekend. It’s going to take a dramatic collapse from Arne Slot’s side - and a huge upturn in Arsenal’s results - to see Liverpool let the trophy slip through their fingers.
The pressure could rise over the coming weeks as Liverpool’s Premier League commitments are put on pause. But United icon Neville believes that could only benefit them and thinks it’s only a matter of time before the trophy is being paraded around Anfield.
"I think it is going to be positive for Liverpool having these big games, they have not got time to stop and think," he said. “They won’t be complacent in the league but they have got this. This title is in their hands.

"When it is 1-1 (for Arsenal), they have not just got one hand on the trophy, the ribbons and the colours are being changed as we speak and the engraver is starting to put the first ‘L' on the trophy, which is a painful thought. The Premier League title is massive for Liverpool.
"Winning the title is big. We know winning the Champions League is big for Liverpool but we know that winning titles is your bread and butter.
"To get level with United on titles, for it to be 20-20, and to be winning a title in Arne Slot’s first season, I think for those players like Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson who will be winning a second title…

“Winning two titles and you are starting to get into a serious level of player. I think they are going to be so focused.”
While Neville predicts Liverpool will be toasting their title win next month, it would still take six results going their way to wrap up the title at its earliest stage. Slot’s side need just a maximum of five wins to be confirmed as champions.
But it might not even take that many. Liverpool will be confirmed as champions on April 12 if they beat Everton and Fulham. But in order to do that, they need to hope that Arsenal lose to their London rivals Chelsea, Fulham and then Everton. Should the Gunners also drop points to Brentford in their following game, Liverpool will be confirmed as Premier League champions for the second time.
