Jamie Carragher lashes out at Tottenham star for ‘criminal’ outing vs Bournemouth

Tottenham defender Pedro Porro was criticised heavily following his costly mistake against Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou came under a lot of scrutiny once again after his side’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth. The North London club is having a disastrous campaign and are sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League with just nine games remaining in the league.

After what has been a forgetful week for Spurs fans following a first leg defeat to AZ Alkmaar in the last 16 of the Europa League, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou was hoping for his side to step up against the Cherries at home on Sunday. However, the North London club found themselves 0-2 down before coming back to draw the game.

Ange Postecoglou's side came from 0-2 down to draw the game 2-2 against Bournemouth

Spurs had one of the worst first-half performances against the Cherries and the game was being played in their own half. Bournemouth opened the scoring through Marcus Tavernier, after Milos Kerkez intercepted a pass and played in a sublime cross crying for a finishing touch.

Cristian Romero was one of the many Spurs players having a poor first-half. The Lilywhites found themselves 0-2 down when Justin Kluivert rolled in a through ball for striker Evanilson to chip it over Spurs keeper Vicario. However, Ange’s men responded immediately when Pape Matar Sarr scored a goal out of nowhere from long range.

Tottenham Hotspur had a purple patch in the second half and captain Heung-min Son won a penalty and scored it after being tackled by the Cherries keeper. It was still a lacklustre performance and on any other day, the game would have ended in Bournemouth’s favour.

Pedro Porro had a moment to forget vs Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro had a forgettable first-half. The Spaniard gave the ball away cheaply to Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez after being out of position. The Cherries defender then ran all the way into the Spurs half and put in a sublime cross for Bournemouth’s Marcus Tavernier to finish it.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher then tore into Pedro Porro as he was not impressed with how cheaply the Spurs defender gave the ball away. Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher went on to say,

“What a cross from Kerkez! This is all about him. Inch perfect. Tavernier at the back post guides it in. You won’t see a better cross than that all season. The goal came from Porro’s sloppy pass. It was criminal.”

As per Sofascore, the 25-year-old won just three of the six ground duels he contested for, had a 65% accurate passing rate and lost the ball a staggering 27 times before being subbed off. This was easily one of his worst games for the club and it was quite clear that the Spaniard was not up to the mark.

Pedro Porro will have to get back to speed quickly if he is to save his Spurs career. The defender has been replaced by Djed Spence this season and it looks likely that Porro will consider his options if his game time is limited.
