GREENVILLE, Wis. (WBAY) - Green Bay and Appleton airports have added flights during the week of the NFL Draft.
More flights in means more flights out that could give you a good deal to get away.
We’ve reported on the hundreds of people renting out their homes. Those folks have the added opportunity to take advantage of flight schedules and find an affordable flight out of town during the draft.
Conversations to add more flights and increase their frequency began once the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay was announced.
All four airlines operating out of ATW -- Allegiant, American, Delta and United -- all have more flights that week.
From Wednesday to Sunday the week of the draft, there will be double the number of flights per day coming to Appleton International Airport, or roughly 60 flights a day.
“The good thing is that we are going to have several portions of our concourse expansion open for the NFL Draft to be able to handle and accommodate the additional traffic,” Appleton airport director Abe Weber said, “and our team has been planning for this for several months on how to make sure that even though we get a little busier and we’re expecting more traffic we can still offer that faster, easier, more convenient travel to everyone.”
All those flights add up to about 7,000 seats.
“So if people are looking to get out of town, there are some great opportunities to capture some good airfares, affordable airfares,” Weber said.
There are about 19 nonstop destinations connecting to 12 major international airport hubs where travelers can fly to almost anywhere in the world.
“We’re going to be covering the state of Florida with Orlando, St. Pete, Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale, Sarasota, a lot of our normal destinations, Las Vegas, but then some newer destinations like Savannah, New York, Houston, that may provide a fun opportunity for families to explore the country.”
Travel demand always pushes flight activity, so if those flights fill up be sure to keep checking. The airlines could switch some of those flights to a larger aircraft, making more seats available, or they might add another plane.
