What Chelsea loanee Djordje Petrovic has just achieved at Strasbourg, it hasn't happened for 41 years

Djordje Petrovic’s loan spell at Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg could not be going any better.

Petrovic kept a clean sheet against Nantes over the weekend, helping Strasbourg to beat their Ligue 1 opponents 1-0.

Liam Rosenior’s side are currently seventh in the table, meaning that they are in the race for European football, with the Chelsea loanee doing his part.

Petrovic arguably deserved to stay at Chelsea after putting in some decent performances last season. But again, his loan in France is going well and he is helping to make history at Strasbourg.

Djordje Petrovic and Strasbourg keep five consecutive clean sheets in Ligue 1

Strasbourg’s defensive performances of late are what have really helped the team to climb the Ligue 1 table.

Their latest clean sheet was the fifth that has been kept in their last five league games, with Petrovic in goal for all of them.

As per L’Equipe, it is the first time that Strasbourg have done that since 1984, 41 years ago. It shows what a fantastic job Rosenior is doing at the club.

Chelsea reportedly value Petrovic at £25m. If the Blues decide to sell him this summer, then someone could be about to get a bargain.

However, it does not look like the club are desperate to offload the 25-year-old in the next transfer window.

While Petrovic is having a good time this season, Chelsea’s current first-choice goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is not. Sanchez did not impress Mark Schwarzer following his return to the team over the weekend and has made a series of errors in the current campaign.

What Chelsea plan to do with Djordje Petrovic

It appears that Petrovic has done enough to convince Chelsea during his loan spell at Strasbourg.

Following his success under Rosenior, it is thought Petrovic could now remain with Chelsea’s first team next season.

If that happens, it will be interesting to see what becomes of Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen. Enzo Maresca will not be able to keep all three goalkeepers happy; someone is going to have to go.
