Remote monitoring and 3D imaging platform Momentum Health has partnered with the Harms Study Group (HSG) global network of surgeons to incorporate patient questionnaires and data collection into the Momentum Spine mobile platform.
This move aims to transform the management of paediatric scoliosis and related spinal conditions.
Facilitated by the Setting Scoliosis Straight Foundation (SSSF), the collaboration is set to change the way clinicians analyse and collect patient data.
Using 3D topography scans, AI, brace-monitoring functionality, and wearable activity tracking, the partnership aims to streamline workflows and provide more insights into patients’ daily lives.
Harms Study Group and SSSF president Dr Suken Shah said: “True to our mission to advance the care of patients with spinal curvatures, we want to streamline data collection, accurately assess how our patients are doing in real time, and customise their treatment based on their condition severity and preferences.”
The digitisation of patient questionnaires is one of the key benefits of the collaboration.
The integration of HSG-specific patient-reported outcome measures into Momentum Spine’s new interface will simplify the process for families completing assessments and for clinicians reviewing them.
The partnership will use short smartphone videos to capture detailed digital models of patients’ trunks. This will offer surgeons and researchers deeper insight into posture and spine alignment, without the need for radiation.
In addition, common wearable devices will deliver floors climbed, step counts, and daily activity metrics directly into the patient’s profile on the platform.
The built-in brace-monitoring options of the Momentum Spine platform will deliver precise data on brace wear compliance, ensuring that patients are in line with their prescribed bracing regimens.
This feature is important for refining and guiding treatment plans.
The HSG will benefit from a secure and centralised platform through this partnership.
