The 55-year-old saw the Reds score in the 99th minute via substitute Joe Gormley as they claimed the trophy for a seventh time in their history.

Former Town academy goalkeeper Lewis Ridd was in the starting XI for Magilton's side, who has been in charge of Cliftonville since June 2023, where he became their first ever full-time manager.

Magilton has now won his second piece of silverware for the north Belfast side, having helped them end their 45-year wait for an Irish Cup win in May last year.

The Northern Irishman reacted to his recent success by saying: "Simply magnificent, days like this are why we all coach, manage and play.

"Supporters were fantastic, the noise and razzmatazz around a big game like this.

"We produced a moment of pure magic and brilliance from a wonderful player."

Magilton will now be looking to retain the Irish Cup as they face Northern Championship side Ards in the semi-final later this month.

Magilton made over 300 appearances as a player for the Blues, before taking charge of more than 100 games as a manager at Portman Road.
