Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah has admitted that he was aware of Argentine legend Sergio Aguero’s English Premier League record.

The in-form winger grabbed a brace to inspire Liverpool FC to a 3-1 win over Southampton FC in a thrilling match played at Anfield Stadium on Saturday.

Therefore, Salah moved level with former Manchester City striker Aguero on 184 goals in joint-fifth on the all-time Premier League scorers list.

“I knew about the record but I didn’t think about it while I was playing,” Salah said.

“But I know about the record. It’s a good record to be equalising; Sergio is a great player, he was a legend here for the league.

“So I’m happy about that and I’m happy about the win as well.”

Salah is now on 32 goals for this season and also moved him to third place in Liverpool’s all-time top scorer list with a total of 243 goals in 390 games.

As a result, the 32-year-old leapfrogged former South Africa international Gordon Hodgson, who netted 241 goals in 378 matches for Liverpool between 1925 and 1936.
