Player has no regrets over leaving Brighton – Determined to help club in ‘difficult period’

Jakub Moder has no regrets about leaving Brighton & Hove Albion for Feyenoord in the January transfer window, according to Fr12.nl.

The Poland international picked up an injury in April 2022 and was sidelined until October 2023. However, he didn’t enjoy regular game time at Brighton last season after returning from his injury problems.

Moder’s situation became worse after Fabian Hürzeler took over from Robert De Zerbi as the Brighton manager last summer, playing just nine minutes from four Premier League games this season.

In search of a prominent role, he decided to leave the English club for Feyenoord and the move has worked out for him. The midfielder has played 655 minutes from six games for his new club.

Last month, Feyenoord parted ways with Brian Priske and appointed Robin van Perise as his successor.

They face Inter Milan in the Champions League last 16 at the San Siro. Ahead of this tie, the former Brighton man remains confident of getting a result despite the 2-0 defeat in the first leg.

Fr12.nl state playing time was the ‘most important thing’ for him after the serious injury. That’s one of the reasons he joined Feyenoord.

“I’m getting stronger, fitter, but above all I am getting back into rhythm. That is why it was such a shame that I got a nasty knock on my ankle during the match against Almere City,” he said.

“That took me longer to recover than I had expected, but it is nothing compared to really serious injuries. I am happy that I was able to play again quickly. That is also why I came, to help Feyenoord in a difficult period with my experience and qualities.”
