The latest Arsenal injury news and return dates ahead of the Champions League last 16 match against PSV.
Arsenal take on PSV in the Champions League on Wednesday night in the second leg of the two team’s last 16 clash having won the first leg 7-1 over in the Netherlands last week - but Mikel Arteta’s options will be limited by injury as the Gunners look to confirm their place in the quarter-final.
The Gunners followed up that result with a 1-1 draw against Manchester United over the weekend in the Premier League, with midfielder Declan Rice scoring their goal against the Red Devils at Old Trafford. Mikel Arteta’s side are now sat in second place in the table behind Liverpool, 15 points behind Liverpool with a game in hand as they prepare for their final 10 fixtures of the season.
We’ve got all the latest Arsenal injury updates and expected return dates below ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League tie.
Arsenal injury issues
Takehiro Tomiyasu - out. Arsenal remain without the defender due to a knee injury. Here is the latest club update from February: “Despite an initial procedure, followed by a RTT, Tomi continued to have issues with his knee, resulting in a further corrective surgical procedure. He will now begin his rehab programme, which is expected to be completed towards the end of this year.” Expected return date: 06/10/2025
Bukayo Saka - out. Saka will remain in the treatment room until later this month at the very least. Arteta said in late January: “No, that's not going to change [three months]. It's within the process. He's doing really well; he's feeling better day by day, but we have to respect the healing process... he has a lot of stages to go through in his rehab.” Expected return date: 16/03/2025
Gabriel Martinelli - out. Martinelli went off against Newcastle United last month and has since been assessed. He has suffered a hamstring injury and continues to be on the sidelines after having a scan which is a blow. His boss said last week: “Bukayo and Gabi are progressing really well but are still a bit far from coming back.” Expected return date: 01/04/2025
Arsenal striker woes
Gabriel Jesus - out. The striker is out with a long-term ACL injury which isn’t ideal for the Gunners. They are lacking depth at the top end of the pitch. The club released this update earlier this winter regarding the former Manchester City player: “Further to being substituted during our match with Man United, Gabriel Jesus has received extensive assessments, which have confirmed that he has sustained an injury to the ACL in his left knee.” Expected return date: 22/11/2025
Kai Havertz - out. He sustained a thigh injury in February and is now not available for Arsenal which is a blow. Arteta said: “We were having a great camp in Dubai recharging, training, having some time off and connecting again with nature in a different environment, and then the injury happened in a very unexpected way.” Expected return date: 21/07/2025
Speaking after their draw with Manchester United, Arteta said: “I’m very frustrated that we didn't win the game because that's how we prepared for it. I think we were really good in the first half in terms of dominance, in our high press, dealing with direct play, getting out of the press and arriving to the last 20 metres. Then we lacked to put the knife through with more decisive actions, more accuracy in that ball to threaten more.”
