Leny Yoro injury update revealed

Manchester United are shifting their focus back to the Europa League as they prepare for a decisive second-leg clash against Real Sociedad at Old Trafford.

The first meeting in San Sebastian ended 1-1, with Joshua Zirkzee’s opener cancelled out by a Mikel Oyarzabal penalty.

With a place in the quarter-finals on the line, United will look to capitalise on home advantage and set up a potential tie against either Olympique Lyonnais or FCSB.

United’s recent 1-1 draw against Arsenal at Old Trafford saw Ruben Amorim’s men produce an encouraging performance, but it also added to the club’s injury concerns.

The squad has already been without key players such as Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez, and Amad.

Meanwhile Manuel Ugarte and Harry Maguire both missed the last two matches due to fitness issues.

There is some good news for United, with Amorim offering update on a return for Leny Yoro.

Leny Yoro’s fitness under assessment

The fitness of Leny Yoro remains a concern after the defender was forced off at half-time against Arsenal.

The young centre-back picked up an apparent foot injury, leading to Ayden Heaven making his Premier League debut in the second half.

Heaven impressed and could now be in contention to start against Sociedad if Leny Yoro is unavailable.

Addressing the situation, Amorim confirmed that the Frenchman will be assessed in the coming days.

“Leny, he has something in his foot,” Amorim said.

“I think. We’ll see if he’s available on Thursday.”

With United playing their fourth game in ten days, the physical toll on the squad has been significant.

However, Amorim is confident his side will be ready for the crucial European tie.

“We will be ready for Thursday,” he declared.

“We have had to cope this week, we had three games.

“The team came from Ipswich, when we played one half with one less man, extra-time with Fulham and then played in Spain with the travel.

“We played against Arsenal, who won 7-1 in the Champions League.”
