Cole Palmer is planning to remain at Chelsea beyond the end of the season despite rumours linking him with a move away.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 22-year-old remains focused on improving with his current club.
Palmer has failed to find the net in eight consecutive games across all competitions, leading to questions about his sudden decline in form.
Brown explained that the midfielder is not currently thinking about his future, and explained he is unlikely to leave the club this summer.
However, if the Blues miss out on Champions League qualification, there are concerns the midfielder could leave in search of a new challenge.
Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson claimed Palmer could quit Chelsea this summer, while Graeme Souness suggested Palmer has downed tools under Maresca.

Cole Palmer’s Chelsea plans revealed amid exit talk
This comes after Enzo Maresca confirmed [via the Standard] that he is not concerned about his star man’s future at Stamford Bridge and does not expect any issues.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience working with elite players after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has echoed those claims and insisted Palmer remains focused on improving his performances for Chelsea.
“Nothing that happens at Chelsea surprises me,” he told Football Insider.
“When Palmer first went there, some of his performances were off the scale.
“He is an extremely talented player, but he’s going through a rough patch in front of goal at the moment.
“With the role he plays, if you’re not scoring goals there are going to be questions asked.
“But he’s got a strong mentality and I’m sure he’ll be focused on coming through this and becoming a better player for himself and for Chelsea.
“Any talk about him wanting to leave or looking elsewhere, I think, is premature.
“He’s not going to be thinking about leaving Chelsea at the moment, and from what I hear he’s focused on improving his game.
“He’s still a very important player there and I don’t expect that to change.”

Enzo Maresca plotting Aaron Ramsdale signing from Southampton
Chelsea’s poor form at late has forced the club to consider their actions in the transfer market ahead of the summer window opening.
One position that has been singled out as an area for improvement is in goal, as concerns have been raised about the performances of Robert Sanchez.
Brown told Football Insider on 7 March that Southampton star Aaron Ramsdale is keen to join Chelsea amid growing interest in his services this summer.
This came after Brown told Football Insider that Ramsdale wants to leave Southampton amid a potential mass exodus at St Mary’s following their anticipated relegation.
