Joshua Zirkzee has been a regular presence in Manchester United’s attack in recent weeks, adapting to a new role under Ruben Amorim.
The 23-year-old led the line in United’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Sunday, having previously been deployed as one of two No.10s.
His form has seen gradual improvement, but that has not been enough to earn a place in the Netherlands’ latest squad.
National team manager Ronald Koeman has left Joshua Zirkzee out of the provisional selection for their upcoming Nations League quarter-final clashes against Spain.
Despite featuring in every international break earlier this season, the forward will not be adding to his six caps this month.

Koeman explained his decision by questioning Joshua Zirkzee’s current level, particularly in his ability to scan the field and make quick passing decisions.
“He wasn’t in the preliminary selection because I don’t think he’s good enough at the moment,” Koeman told Soccer News.
“Especially scanning when turning or passing often goes wrong.”
Zirkzee made his Netherlands debut at Euro 2024 and has since started three times for his country, scoring once.
Koeman acknowledged the national team’s lack of depth in attack but insisted that selection must still be earned.
“Even then, I still think that you have to earn your selection, and I think he doesn’t deserve that now, but that could be the case again in another period,” he added.
Joshua Zirkzee will now focus on maintaining his form for United as they push for a strong finish to the season.
With more consistent performances, he could work his way back into Koeman’s plans for future international fixtures.
