Darwin Nunez isn't getting too excited by Liverpool's considerable lead over Arsenal in the Premier League title race - admitting there's still a long way to go. The striker netted his first league goal at Anfield since November in the Reds' 3-1 win over Southampton on Saturday.
Despite going a goal down to the division's bottom side in the first half, Arne Slot's men turned things around after the break with the 25-year-old scoring the equaliser before winning a penalty minutes later for Mohamed Salah to convert.
The winger scored his second penalty of the game late on to move Liverpool 16 points clear of the north London side, with their lead cut to 15 after Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday. While Nunez has struggled this season, with just seven goals in all competitions, he made a mighty impact against the Saints and said despite his team's hefty lead with just 10 games to go the title race is not over.
Speaking to TNTSportsMex after full-time, Liverpool's number nine refused to claim victory in the league and called on his team-mates to continue their form. "We need to keep going; this isn't over yet," Nunez said. "There are many matches ahead, and we all know the Premier League is very difficult, but we have to keep working.
While he's started only eight league games this season, the Uruguayan has struck up a good relationship with Salah since arriving at Anfield in 2022. Following Salah's brace that put him level with Sergio Aguero on 184 Premier League goals, Nunez spoke of the 32-year-old's leadership abilities.

"He has an incredible mentality," he said of Salah. "When you arrive at the club, you see him there before everyone else, working hard. He has an incredible mentality and I always try to watch and learn from him. He is an example for many.
"Sometimes we joke with him; I tell him he doesn't give me a good pass and we laugh about it in the dressing room. But he's an incredible person and, well, I don't need to say anything about what kind of player he is because everyone already knows his great quality."
Salah was similarly complimentary of his forward partner after Saturday, as he spoke of Nunez's importance to the team despite the criticism he's faced for much of the season. "He is a very important player for us," the league's leading scorer said. "I'm always there talking to him. He is very important, we need him. And you saw him also in the last game against PSG, he was very important when he came in, making a difference."
Liverpool won't be back in action in the Premier League until April 2 when they host Everton. Until then, they'll tackle PSG in their Champions League Round of 16 second leg on Tuesday before taking on Newcastle in the EFL Cup final on Sunday.
