Aston Villa are reportedly keen on keeping Axel Disasi beyond the end of this season.

The 26-year-old defender joined Unai Emery’s side on loan from Chelsea at the start of February and has made an impressive start to life at Villa.

After missing the win over Tottenham in the FA Cup due to being cup-tied, Disasi made his debut in the 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town, before then starting against Liverpool.

Ineligible to face parent club Chelsea, Disasi has made two more league appearances either side of playing in the Champions League round of 16 clash first leg against Club Brugge.

Villa won 3-1 in Belgium before then beating Brentford 1-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Disasi won the man of the match award for his strong display as he kept a lid on Kevin Schade.

After full-time, Emery said: “He’s adapting with us. When I spoke with him before he added us in the transfer window, I spoke with the position we needed to try to occupy with him, playing as a centre-back, playing sometimes as a four or three building up on the right side.

“He played before in other teams in this position and he accepted the challenge. Of course, when he played against Liverpool as a centre-back he played good.

“When he played as a right full-back at Palace and Brugge he was progressively getting better to try and get confidence. Today I think he went one step forward more, playing and succeeding better."

Now, according to Foot Mercato, Villa would like to keep Disasi’s services beyond his loan spell.

They add that other Premier League clubs are interested in the France international.
