It’s March 10 and to help mark the date it somehow felt only appropriate that we dipped into the City archives to celebrate our own Super Mar10 – namely the one and only Mario Balotelli.
Over the course of a memorable two and half years at the Etihad, the Italian striker etched his name into Club folklore - and the fans’ hearts - with a series of iconic, unforgettable and occasional madcap moments.
So it felt only fitting that on today of all days, we rolled back the years to recall several of Super Mario’s most memorable moments in Blue.
They encompass his first senior competitive City strike away at FC Timisoara in the Europa League along with his maiden Premier League goals during an away win at West Brom.
We also celebrate Balotelli’s first City hat-trick notched up against Aston Villa as well as revisiting spectacular goals against Everton, Blackburn, Villa and Fulham to name but a few.
Of course, no Super Mario compilation would be complete without his defining ‘Why Always Me’ strike at Old Trafford which set the scene for THAT 6-1 demolition derby win against Manchester United in 2011, with Mario also adding City’s second goal that day.

We also revisit key Balotelli penalties for City, including vital spot-kicks against both Tottenham and Sunderland
Last but by no means least, we also had to feature Mario’s one and only assist for City – but what an assist.
Namely that unforgettable lay-off which set up Sergio Aguero’s spine-tingling 93:20 strike against Queens Park Rangers in May 2012, which sealed an unbelievable 3-2 comeback win and with it the Club’s first Premier League title.
