Report: Wolves interested in 'fantastic' 12-cap England international who's set to become free…

It will be a busy summer for Wolves, and the hope is that the club are still in the Premier League come the end of the season.

Things are looking good at the moment, with Wolves six points clear of the relegation zone.

Vitor Pereira has improved the squad and certainly, fans are much more optimistic now than when Gary O’Neil was in charge.

A lot of Wolves fans can’t wait for the current season to end, and to start afresh next term, hopefully as a top-flight club.

Wolves will be in the market for new players and seemingly, a new centre-back might be on the agenda.

Last week, it was claimed Koni De Winter of Genoa would be a key defensive target for Wolves this summer.

It was also claimed Wolves could move for Victor Lindelof.

Now, Wolves are being linked with a potential free swoop for Everton defender, Michael Keane.

It has been reported by the Daily Mail that Wolves are one of a few clubs currently showing interest in Everton defender Michael Keane.

Keane stands to leave Everton at the end of the current season when his contract expires.

He has been with the Toffees since 2017, when he joined from Burnley for around £30 million.

Keane has clocked up 226 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals.

This season, the star – previously branded ‘fantastic by Phil Jagielka (IBT) – has really struggled for minutes given the form of James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite at the back, playing just 14 times.

According to the Daily Mail, Wolves are interested in a potential free swoop – but a number of other clubs are taking an interest ahead of the summer.

It’s stated Saudi Pro League side Al Riyad and American team FC Dallas are both watching the 32-year-old.

Keane could be a Craig Dawson replacement for Wolves

It will be interesting to see if Wolves do make a push for Keane this summer.

Potentially, he could be a good replacement for Dawson in terms of being that player who rotates into the team every now and then.

Dawson, of course, was left out of Wolves’ updated Premier League squad, and won’t play for the club again as his contract expires this summer.

Appearances – 226

Seasons – 8

Goals – 15

Assists – 10

Wolves have good centre-back options in Emmanuel Agbadou, Toti Gomes, Santiago Bueno, Matt Doherty and Masser Djiga, with Yerson Mosquera to come back into the fold.

Bringing in an experienced head sounds like a good idea. While Keane – who has 12 caps for England – may be past his prime, he could be a decent pick-up for Wolves if he’d be happy with a rotation role.
