What made Jason Kidd lose his mind about the Mavericks: "I’ve never seen this..."

There is no denying the fact that the Dallas Mavericks are having a disappointing 2024-25 NBA season, but they have no one else but themselves to blame for it.

The Mavs' demise essentially started when general manager Nico Harrison traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for a package majorly around Anthony Davis.

It was dubbed as a way to help the team enter "win now" mode, but fast forward to March 2025, the Mavericks are far from the promised position as they most recently suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Phoenix Suns.

Speaking of the defeat, it featured another unfortunate situation for the Mavericks when Kessler Edwards and Dwight Powell collided with each other and headed to the locker room, further depleting the injury-riddled roster.

Keeping this situation in mind, Mavs head coach Jason Kidd had a frustrating response stating he has never seen something like this where he hardly has any players on the bench.

“I’ve never seen this. Never been on a game where you cannot take someout out to rest them because we had no one to put in. The end of the bench, normally, you can put someone in," Kidd said. "It’s tough. It is what it is, though. Gotta keep pushing forward.”

Following the Powell-Edwards incident, the Mavs only had seven players on the team at disposal. It was indeed a rare moment and it perfectly shows how the basketball gods are seemingly making the team pay for their mistake of trading Doncic.
