The Celtics face the Jazz on Monday as they’ll see plenty of familiar faces. Former Boston president Danny Ainge has signed a few former Celtics to their roster, including including Will Hardy leading the Jazz in his third season.
There are a couple 2024 champs who will also be back in Boston for Monday’s game. Jaden Springer signed with the Jazz for the rest of the season, but he already got his ring opening night.
However, C’s guard Svi Mykhailiuk will be back in Boston for the first time this season, so he should be getting his ring. Mykhailiuk already joked after the Celtics ceremony he wanted his ring ahead of time.
Mykhailiuk signed a four-year contract with the Jazz last summer, landing a deal after he was with Boston for one season. He’s currently averaging 9.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 26 games (12 starts) for the Jazz this season.
Mykhailiuk was with the Celtics during the title run as a reserve guard, appearing in 41 games (two starts). He averaged 4.0 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. Mykhailiuk was one of the rare guys, along with Oshae Brissett, who didn’t return to the C’s roster this year, instead landing with the Jazz during the summer.
The Celtics have three rotation guys listed on the injury report. Al Horford (toe) and Jayson Tatum (left knee tendiopathy) are both questionable while Kristaps Porzingis (illness) is doubtful. So the C’s will likely be shorthanded in at least some form as they’re coming off a grueling win over the rival Lakers on Saturday.
