Kolkata: The younger of the Dey brothers of Tangra, Prasun Dey, recorded his statement before a magistrate at Sealdah court on Monday. The court earlier fixed this day to record Prasun's confidential statement after he informed the court on Mar 7 that he wanted to record his confessional statement. He also refused to take any legal help, wishing to die a "legal death".
Police said they will move a petition to get his statement and study it. "We will use the same statement to question Prasun's elder brother Pranay once he is declared fit," said an investigating officer. Lalbazar on Monday reiterated that it will not be before at least more than a week that Pranay can be released from NRS Hospital.
Cops also said that a rehabilitation programme under which Pranay's son Pratip can be put under the care of a responsible citizen was still being worked out as relatives still have not shown any interest in taking his custody.
Last Thursday, the Chief Public Prosecutor of Sealdah court, Suvendu Ghosh, informed the court that Prasun wanted to make a confession in front of the magistrate. Earlier, police recorded Prasun's statement when he was in cop custody for two days.
Pranay and Prasun have blamed a Mexican agency for their family's situation with whom their company had a long-standing relationship.
