Report: Colts ‘expected to have interest’ in Dolphins free agent safety Jevon Holland

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Indianapolis Coltsare among the NFL teams expected to be interested in Miami Dolphins free agent safety Jevon Holland:

Now, as Colts fans know, being interested in and realistically ‘winning the day’ when it comes to actually signing a top free agent are two different things—particularly if historically prudent Colts longtime general manager Chris Ballard refuses to overpay.

However, perhaps facing a ‘make-or-break’ 2025 campaign, the embattled Colts general manager may be a little more motivated to ‘act outside the binder’ and make a sizeable free agency splash to provide new Indianapolis defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo some much needed backend secondary help at starting safety. Ballard acknowledged recentlythat he may adapt his free agency philosophy to identify the right players this go-around.

Originally a 2021 2nd round pick of the Dolphins, the 6’1,” 205 pound Holland is fresh off a 2024 season for Miami in which he recorded 62 tackles (42 solo), 2 tackles for loss, a sack, 4 passes defensed, and a forced fumble during 15 starts.

Per PFF, he was their 56th best graded safety with a +63.0 overall grade—which was highlighted by a +73.4 run defense grade.

Signing Holland, who just turned 25-years-old in early March, would allow the Colts to divert resources to other roster positions of deficiency within the early rounds of the upcoming NFL Draft—meaning positions like tight end, etc. could be better in play.

Holland has an overall skill-set to be an asset against both the run and in coverage, where he could play alongside more traditional strong safety Nick Cross in the back of the revamped Indy secondary.

Per Spotrac, he’s expected to command a projected lucrative 4-year, $60.6M new contract.
