Broncos Working Towards Deal With 49ers Safety

The Denver Broncos are off and running in free agency in 2025. According to Jeremy Fowler from ESPN, Denver is working towards an agreement with San Francisco 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga.

Hufanga, 25, has spent the first four seasons of his career in San Francisco, and it now appears that he will have a new home for at least the 2025 season.

The 2022 season was the best of Hufanga's young career, as he earned first-team all-pro honors as well as being selected to his only career Pro Bowl game. In that season, he finished with four interceptions, nine pass defended, two forced fumbles, and 97 tackles, all career highs. 2022 is also the only full season Hufanga has been able to play in his career.

Hufanga tore his ACL in 2023 and returned in 2024 to play seven games for San Francisco. 2025 will be his first fully healthy season since his career year in 2022.

The Broncos' defense ranked 20th (222.9 yards per game) in pass defense in 2024. In a division with Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Geno Smith, pass defense is something that is much needed, and the addition of Hufanga would certainly help that.

If the two sides can agree on a deal, the Denver defensive unit would instantly improve with the addition of Hufanga.
