Peter Schmeichel has hailed one “world-class performance” that he saw during Manchester United and Arsenal’s Premier League clash on Sunday evening at Old Trafford.
Manchester United and Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw on the weekend after a thrilling second-half encounter between the two Premier League sides.
The first half of the match was largely uneventful until Bruno Fernandes stepped up and scored a stunning free-kick past David Raya in injury time ahead of half-time.
Bruno Fernandes’ opener for United would be cancelled out in the second half after Declan Rice curled a sensational strike past a helpless Andre Onana.
Neither United nor Arsenal were able to snatch a winner and both the Gunners and the Red Devils walked away with a Premier League point a piece.

Man Utd legend Peter Schmeichel sent clear message to Arsenal star David Raya
Arsenal star David Raya was met with criticism in the first half of Sunday’s 1-1 draw after Bruno Fernandes caught him out with the Manchester United free-kick.
However, the 29-year-old Spaniard kept Arsenal in the match in the second half, including preventing Noussair Mazraoui from scoring with an outstretched leg.

Joshua Zirkzee was also denied by Raya from putting United ahead, while the Arsenal No 1 also prevented Bruno Fernandes from snatching a late winner.
When asked about his performance after the match, Raya told Premier League Productions: “Defensively, yes, attacking[-wise] I could’ve done a little bit better.”
However, Peter Schmeichel insisted that the Arsenal star should not play down his display and praised him for his stunning double save near the end of the match.
“I’m not having that, today you’re making three unbelievable saves, actually saving three situations,” he said in response, as per the Metro.
“The last one it’s in the last minute it’s unbelievable.
“I’m quite intrigued here because I think you put out a world-class performance; I think you saved your team a point. Can you use a point or not use a point, that’s kind of irrelevant now.
“I’m intrigued about what you said about offensively I didn’t play well what does that mean?”

Gary Neville’s telling reaction to David Raya’s first half for Arsenal
Gary Neville was on commentary for Sky Sports and the United legend admitted that the free-kick wall was “a mile back” when Fernandes took his shot.
“The wall looks a fair way back. Looks like it’s giving him a chance. It looks a mile back,” he said.
Gary Neville added: “Can we put a measure on that? Because that wall looked absolutely miles away.
“Usually, you see the wall, particularly a big wall like that, it always looks really difficult to get it up and over.
“There just seemed to be so much space, so much space that he didn’t even have to go that high up into the net.
“And he [Raya] couldn’t get across. But you fancied him, and he delivered.”
United now return to action on Thursday evening when they host Real Sociedad for their crucial second-leg Europa League round-of-16 clash at Old Trafford.
