Arne Slot confirms if Cody Gakpo will play against PSG

Arne Slot has provided a fitness update on Cody Gakpo ahead of Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool will host PSG at Anfield for the second leg of the Champions League round-of-16 clash, which is scheduled for 8pm GMT.

The Reds hold a slender one-goal advantage in the tie after scoring from their only shot on target late in the game.

Gakpo travelled to Paris for the first leg but was unable to feature due to a minor injury suffered in training.

The forward first suffered a knock in last month’s Merseyside derby at Everton. Although he returned as a substitute in victories over Manchester City and Newcastle United, he has since missed Liverpool’s wins over both PSG and Southampton.

But he returned to open training on Monday, suggesting that he is winning his race to return for Tuesday’s big match at Anfield against PSG.

Speaking during the PSG pre-match press conference, Arne Slot confirmed Gakpo’s availability for tomorrow’s game.

“Cody will be in the squad. He trained today for the first time.”
