Mikel Arteta wants to bring Victor Osimhen to Arsenal to solve their striker problem, with many other clubs keen on the wantaway Napoli loanee.
According to Juve Live, Arsenal are making their way into the Victor Osimhen chase ahead of the summer, with Mikel Arteta reportedly pushing to sign the Nigerian. The wantaway Napoli loanee has many other suitors including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Juventus.
Arsenal are struggling for goals in the Premier League without a recognised striker after a major injury crisis has wiped out the options in the central position. Kai Havertz will miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury, while Gabriel Jesus has been ruled out for even longer with an ACL rupture.
Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka has been missing since mid-December, while Arsenal have also seen Gabriel Martinelli sidelined for over a month, only for him to make a return on Sunday. Either way, the lack of complete options in the frontline has certainly caused Arsenal a chance at the Premier League title and continues to threaten their season.
Mikel Arteta certainly wants a new striker in the summer, and may even consider bringing a wide forward too. As for the centre-forward options, a few names are being considered, with recent stories pointing at a firm interest in Victor Osimhen, who will be keen to leave Napoli in the summer.
The report insists, Arteta is pushing to sign Osimhen as his new striker, which could help the manager use Kai Havertz in a more familiar attacking midfield role. There is a mention of a release clause potentially in the region of £70 million, although other sources have reported a lower fee, which could suit the Gunners in this pursuit. Arsenal also have Benjamin Sesko on their list, however, Osimhen, who has contributed to 28 goals this term, is seen as a complete forward.
Arsenal faces Victor Osimhen competition
Arsenal are not alone in the race as there are plenty of other teams chasing Osimhen including Juventus, who are evaluating Dusan Vlahovic’s future ahead of the summer. Chelsea were in the mix, but it appears they may go with other targets in the future.
Manchester United are keen on Victor Osimhen as well, with some reports suggesting the club are seriously considering triggering the striker’s release clause. The lack of UEFA Champions League football may be a factor here, as Arsenal could position themselves as the front runners if things progress in the background.
