Nottingham Forest defeated Manchester City at the City Ground on Saturday to go four points clear of the reigning champions in the Premier League table.
The Reds won the day courtesy of a goal from Callum Hudson-Odoi with just seven minutes of action remaining to send the home fans into raptures.
Hudson-Odoi was praised by Michael Owen for his performances. As the goalscorer and match-winner that’s not surprising but this was all about the team effort.
Nuno Espirito Santo deserves his flowers for this display. His game plan worked to perfection and ultimately, City couldn’t find a way to breach Matz Sels in the Forest goal.
The result saw Forest got back to winning ways after two defeats and a draw in the Premier League, with the team now able to start looking forwards again.

Robbie Earle hails Nottingham Forest star Callum Hudson-Odoi
Jadon Sancho will join Chelsea from Manchester United for a fee of £25 million in the summer. Right now, he’s on loan at Stamford Bridge and he’s not enjoying a great season.
After his goalscoring exploits at the weekend, Earle has made a claim that Chelsea would have been better off keeping Hudson-Odoi, rather than persisting with big-money flops.
He was seriously impressed with Hudson-Odoi at the weekend and gave him a weekly accolade on The 2 Robbies Podcast.
MORE FOREST STORIES
He said: “My Underappreciated Player of the Week is Callum Hudson-Odoi. I watched the game at the weekend and he’s a player, he’s 24-years-old, he started his career at Chelsea, played a few games there and probably didn’t make the grade early on, but with all the players who came in he was deemed surplus to requirements.
“He went to Forest and Nottingham Forest picked him up for somewhere near the figure of £3 million, he’s 24, he’s got huge potential, pace, works hard for the team. He did an interview after the game, he was bright, spirited and understands his role in the team.
“Right now, I was thinking about it, he scored the goal that beat Liverpool in a 1-0 win, he scored the goal that beat Manchester City in a 1-0 win and I look at Chelsea’s wide players now and I would have Hudson-Odoi ahead of Jadon Sancho any day of the week!”

Chelsea’s loss is very much the gain of Forest – and Espirito Santo. Forest paid £3 million for Hudson-Odoi and might just be the sale of the century.
Hudson-Odoi has deserved all the accolades he’s received of late. He had Forest’s best chance when Ederson tipped a goalbound effort onto the post prior to the opening goal.

The 24-year-old made no mistake later in the piece though, squeezing the ball home at the near post with his right foot after an exquisite pass from Morgan Gibbs-White.
Hudson-Odoi was losing his way a little bit at Chelsea. However, it’s hard to deny that there is some truth when Earle says that the Forest man would now be a much better wide option than anything else currently in place at Stamford Bridge.
