REPORT: Liverpool Goalkeeper Alisson Ranked Below Chelsea Target Kelleher In Shock New Study

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has been ranked below backup Caoimhin Kelleher in a shocking finding in a new statistics study.

Alisson was the star of the show during Liverpool’s last game, which was a 1-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain in a Champions League Round of 16 first leg.

PSG dominated the game, having 71% possession, 27 shots and over double the amount of passes to Arne Slot’s side. However, thanks to some heroics from Alisson, Liverpool were able to keep PSG from scoring and net a late winner through Harvey Elliot.

However, according to a fresh new study by Grosvenor Sport, Alisson has been worse this season than Liverpool back-up Caoimhin Kelleher which has been proven by statistics.

The study involved creating a ‘shot-stopper rating’ out of 10 by using a combination of metrics including post shot expected goals, goals allowed, and save percentages. It has determined the best goalkeepers in the Premier League out of those who have played over 450 minutes.

The results ranked Alisson as the 12th-best performing keeper in the Premier League this season, with a ‘shot-stopper rating’ of 6.45/10.

Meanwhile, it ranked Irishman Kelleher at nine with a rating of 6.88/10 for the period where he replaced Alisson, who was injured in Autumn.

This may come as a surprise to many, as it has been debated that Alisson could be the best goalkeeper in the world right now.

Will Liverpool keep Alisson after this season?

The Reds plunged Alisson’s future into uncertainty after they signed Valencia keeper Giori Mamardashvili in the summer transfer window. They sent him back on loan to the La Liga club, but he is expected to join at Anfield in summer.

Mamardashvili has made 22 appearances in La Liga this season, but after performances like the one against PSG, Liverpool could decide to delay his transfer.

If they decide to keep hold of Alisson, Liverpool could send Mamardashvili back out on loan for next season, at a risk of making him unhappy with his impending move to Liverpool. The club are yet to make a decision on Alisson’s future.
