Mikel Arteta‘s side will now pin their hopes on the Champions League for a piece of silverware this season. They are currently 7-1 up in a round of 16 tie against PSV Eindhoven.

As they look ahead to next season to win the Premier League, Arsenal will be keen to add more talent both in attack and defence in the summer.

They are due to lose Kieran Tierney as his contract expires at the end of the season, and will want to sign a full-back to replace the Scottish international.

That could come in the form of Barcelona defender Jules Kounde, who has been linked to Manchester United in recent months.

According to Football 365, Arsenal are willing to offer £50 million for Kounde, a figure that Barcelona could consider should the Gunners offer it.

The 26-year-old has made 41 appearances for the La Liga giants this season, scoring three goals and providing eight assists. He can play both as a right-back and a centre-back, and is reportedly wanted by United to play in the back three of Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation.

Arsenal looking to keep hold of key defender

If the Gunners do sign Kounde, he would add to an Arsenal defence which is already considered as one of the best in the Premier League.

With Gabriel and William Saliba, Arteta has one of the best centre-back partnerships in world football, but it could be tough to keep hold of them.

Saliba has been subject to transfer interest from Real Madrid, who have reportedly shortlisted as their priority target in defence.

Arsenal however are understood to be certain that they don’t want to sell the defender. He will likely only be sold if he wants to leave the Emirates.
