Four things we learnt from Arsenal's 1-1 draw against Manchester United

**Arsenal**made it three Premier League games without a win after being held 1-1 away to Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes put the hosts ahead near the end of the first half after he placed his free kick past David Raya in the Arsenal net.

Declan Rice equalised for the Gunners in the second half with an accurate strike, finding its way into net off the post.

United had the best chances to win the game, with Rice being forced to make a last-ditch challenge on Rasmus Hojlund when the **Danish**striker was in on goal, and late on Raya produced a brilliant double save to prevent Fernandes from winning the game.

This result leaves Arsenal in second, 15 points behind **Liverpool**and eight clear of Manchester City in fifth, with the North London club stuck in no-man's land in the table.

Here are four things that we learnt from this damaging result for the Gunners.

Rice and Raya two stars for Arsenal

Despite the bad result, Rice and Raya showed their class yet again for Aesenal, preventing them from their fourth loss of the season.

The Spanish keeper made five saves, four of them inside the box which included a quick reactions save from **Noussair Mazraoui,**before he late on pulled off a clutch save, diving back into his goal to push the ball away.

If it was not for his performance, Arsenal would have lost, and it was because of Rice that Arsenal drew.

Despite a slow start to the season, Rice has grown into his new more advanced role, and has become one of Arsenal's best players in recent weeks with a string of high-tier, consistent performances.

When Arsenal looked to run out of ideas in attack, he popped up with a goal to level the score, and kept that scoreline the same when he made a world class tackle on Hojlund late on to prevent him from a massive goal scoring opportunity.

These two players could leave the pitch with their head's held high, something that not all the players could.

Problems in front of goal.....again

Another Arsenal game, and another troubled game for the attackers who did not get up to speed against United's defence.

The Gunners had 17 shots, but could only score one of them thanks to Rice.

Along with that, the shots were not all in good positions, with almost half of their shots being attempted outside the box.

Arsenal are really struggling for attacking men, but were lucky enough to have Gabriel Martinelli back in the team, with the **Brazilian**winger coming on with 30 minutes left.

With the news that Bukayo Saka will be back this month, Arsenal are finally starting to get some depth in attack, which should help them for the rest of the season.

The problem is that they are not creating enough big chances, and that is down to the creative side in the team.

The team are not taking as many risks, making them predictable with their lack of runners.

This has come down to bad luck with injuries leading to players being over-used, and poor recruitment in the transfer window when Mikel Arteta was begging for an attacking signing.

Sterling falling down the pecking order

In need of a goal with 15 minutes left, Arteta looked to his bench for attacking options, with Raheem Sterling the only offensive player left.

Despite this, the **Spaniard**chose **Scottish**left-back Kieran Tierney to slot in on the left wing, leaving Sterling sitting on the Arsenal bench.

If this does not prove how out of favour the former Manchester City player is in this team, then nothing will.

Recent poor pefromances and cameos have left the **Chelsea**loanee behind defenders in the attacking options, summing up his disappointing loan spell in North London.

It is unlikely he will get many more minutes for Arsenal this season with Martinelli returning from injury and Saka getting closer.

If the title was not over before, it surely is now

15 points is now the gap between Arsenal and Liverpool, with Arne Slot's team looking more likely to be winning their second Premier League title.

A few weeks ago their was hope for the Gunners after Liverpool dropped points against **Everton**in the Merseyside derby, but two points from three games have left Arsenal in need of a miracle if they are going to win the league.

Yesterday's performance proved that Arsenal will only more likely be falling away further from Liverpool than getting closer, with similar performances and problems cropping up for the Gunners.

Their next game is a London derby at home to Chelsea, but before that is the second leg of the Champions League with Arsenal going into it with a 7-1 lead over PSV.

This gives them a chance to rest players and rotate their squad, something that they may not get the luxury of doing if they go deep in the competition.

This is Arsenal's last hope of getting something out of this season, with the league all but over.
