Manchester United are back in Europa League action this week
Manchester United take on Real Sociedad in the second leg of their Europa League tie this Thursday at Old Trafford. They head into the game on the back of their 1-1 draw in the first leg in Spain with striker Joshua Zirkzee getting their goal.
The Red Devils backed up that result with another 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League last time out. Bruno Fernandes got their goal against the Gunners in the first-half before Declan Rice equalised in the second-half.
Ruben Amorim was picked as the replacement for Erik ten Hag earlier this season. His side are currently sat down in 14th place in the table.
AI predicts Manchester United’s next three managers
We have asked Grok to predict the next three managers of United. Here are the results...
1. Thomas Frank
AI has said: “The Brentford manager has been consistently mentioned as a contender (odds around 12/1 in early 2025 speculation) due to his proven track record of overachieving with limited resources. His pragmatic, adaptable approach might appeal if United seek stability after a period of upheaval. Frank’s reluctance to leave midseason has been noted. Frank represents a return to a less glamorous but effective choice, similar to David Moyes’ initial appointment, if United prioritize results over prestige.”
2. Kieran McKenna
AI has said: “Currently at Ipswich Town, McKenna has earned plaudits for back-to-back promotions, taking the club from League One to the Premier League by 2024. His stock is rising fast—X posts and web articles frequently mention him as a dark horse for United (odds around 10/1 in some discussions). As a former United assistant under Solskjær, he knows the club’s culture, and his attacking, youth-focused style aligns with INEOS’s reported long-term vision. He might step in if United opt for a promising, less established name after a bigger hire falters.”
3. Graham Potter
AI has said: “Potter remains a perennial candidate since his Brighton success and despite his Chelsea struggles in 2022-2023. His tactical flexibility and ability to build cohesive teams make him a fit for United’s squad overhaul.. He could be a steady hand if the club seeks a Premier League-proven manager following a turbulent period.”
Ruben Amorim reaction to Arsenal draw
Speaking after United’s match against Arsenal, Amorim said: “I was really pleased. If you see all also the game, we control the first minutes without the ball. We score near the half-time, that helped us a lot in the end. In the second half we had more space and more energy also because of the result and our fans, to score another goal. So if I look at the performance, I'm quite pleased, even with all the problems.”
He added: “What I can say is that we need more Brunos. That is clear. Not just the quality, the character, not some mistakes, but the character that he has, the availability in this league, is so important and he's so decisive with the ball and without the ball.”
