Arsenal 17-year-old Zac Shuaib was confirmed to be on a trial with Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, after coming off the bench as a substitute for their u18 match against Southampton.
Shuaib played the final 28 minutes of the match, marking his first appearance in the u18 Premier League since September.
The midfielder had spent four months out with an injury, but upon returning to fitness he’s now seemingly on the search for a new club.

Jeorge Bird reports for Arsenal Youth that Shuaib is unlikely to be offered a professional contract by Arsenal. The teenager signed for the Gunners as a schoolboy and agreed scholarship terms in 2023, but he’s set to take the next step towards senior football somewhere else.
Shuaib started the season in the Arsenal u18s, making one start and three substitute appearances in the first four games of the campaign. That took him to double figures for u18 league appearances with the Gunners.
The youngster even joined first-team training towards the end of September, but his injury setback derailed his season after that.

Shuaib wouldn’t be the first player to swap Arsenal academy for Brighton’s, with Amario Cozier-Duberry making the same switch recently. Cozier-Duberry is currently on loan with Blackburn Rovers, with one goal in 22 games (seven starts).
