Nathan Patterson - in action for Everton - is set for a Scotland recall

Lewis Ferguson is set to make his Scotland return for the Nations League play-off with Greece.

Steve Clarke is set to announce his squad on Tuesday and the Bologna star is in line for selection.

The 25-year-old suffered a knee injury last January and that injury forced him to miss the Euro 2024 finals.

Ferguson, who has 12 caps, has battled bravely and has been a regular in the Bologna team since November.

He has got his side pushing for back-to-back Champions League campaigns.

Ferguson has captained Bologna against Lille, Benfica and Borussia Dortmund in this season’s elite competition.

Everton right-back Nathan Patterson is also set to be recalled. He also missed the Euros with a hamstring injury.

Patterson has broken back into the Everton team under David Moyes, although he has missed recent games with a minor issue.

On form Aberdeen striker Kevin Nisbet is also under consideration.

Scotland boss Clarke has also run the rule over Ipswich striker George Hirst.

He is the son of former England cap David Hirst but is eligible to play for Scotland through the grandparent rule.

Clarke is keen to call-up the 26-year-old and the Scottish Football Association have started the process.

It is unlikely the paperwork would be done to allow Hirst to be called up for this current squad. It is a viewer to the longer term.
