There’s no rest for the wicked in the relegation battle as Leicester City prepare for another tough test against Manchester United this weekend.
After Leicester lost to Chelsea, the Foxes remain six points adrift of safety with just 10 games of the Premier League campaign to go.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is one of the worst Premier League managers after 15 games in charge of a club and ever since leaving his post at Man United, has had a miserable time.
Ruben Amorim, who explained why he didn’t want Van Nistelrooy to stay, citing that he wanted to bring in his own coaching staff, has also had a difficult start to life as a Premier League manager.
United have already beaten the East Midlanders on three separate occasions this season and a fourth would pretty much mean curtains on the Premier League campaign.
Van Nistelrooy will need to channel everything he knows and look to inspiration from other managerial figures and none come better than Sir Alex Ferguson.

What Man United legend Sir Alex Ferguson taught Ruud van Nistelrooy
During his time at Old Trafford, Van Nistelrooy was one of those lucky enough to have played under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Winning a Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield under him, the Dutchman had a manager who knew what it took to win.
After an 18-year absence, the 48-year-old returned to United to work as a coach with then-manager, Erik ten Hag.
He eventually left after Ten Hag’s replacement Amorim wanted his own backroom staff but during an interview with The Guardian in August 2024, the Leicester boss revealed the most important skill he learned for his own managerial journey.

“The most important thing I took from working with Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alex Ferguson was their relationships with the individual,” he stated.
“It’s not a football player; it’s a person. When you reach that connection, you get the best out of people – and from there on you can help them build their careers. I never let that thought go out of my mind.
“Sometimes you have to be tough on them and sometimes you have to get your arm around them. That mixture is important, but the most important thing is to always be honest and straight.
“When you have knowledge about the game and what is necessary at the highest level, you must share it.
“As a coach, you just try to help players reach their goals. And it is something that makes you feel really proud when you see young players develop.”
Leicester City’s dismal record against Man United in 24/25 season
Leicester’s record against Man United isn’t great anyway, but having already played them three times, it’s been a familiar theme every time.
All three games were at Old Trafford and in every fixture, the Foxes were beaten.
Van Nistelrooy was actually in charge for two of them, but he will be hoping his third win as a manager in this fixture can be as the Foxes boss.
Leicester’s results vs Man United 24/25 season
Man United 2-1 Leicester City
Man United 3-0 Leicester City
Man United 5-2 Leicester City
As it stands, Leicester will be relegated with two games of the season to play, unless they can pick up wins and Wolves can drop points.
But, if they can achieve three points in the final game before the international break, they will still have a fighting chance.
