Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are both interested in appointing Simone Inzaghi as their next manager.
Simone Inzaghi has worked wonders at Inter Milan, not only reviving the club but also re-establishing them as a European powerhouse. His impressive work has not gone unnoticed in England.
According to a report from Tuttosport, Manchester United and Tottenham are both interested in having the Italian tactician on their bench going forward. Both clubs are struggling in the ongoing campaign and could look for a managerial change ahead of next season. If they do go down that way, Inzaghi’s name will be very high on their wishlist.
The 48-year-old’s managerial career began at Lazio. He worked his way up and ended up managing their senior team from 2016 to 2021. After proving himself at his very own club, Inzaghi took charge of Inter Milan in the summer of 2021.
He has completely transformed the club and has helped them win six titles. He led them to Serie A glory last season, and this year, the team is competing fiercely on all fronts. He has dominated some of the biggest teams in the world with his 3-5-2 that has a rock-solid defence.
His team’s performances haven’t gone unnoticed. The Italian manager is now among the most sought-after in world football. Manchester and Tottenham are two English giants who would love to have him on their bench.
Inzaghi to United or Tottenham?
United had a managerial change towards the end of 2024 as they brought in Ruben Amorim to replace Erik ten Hag. While they have signed the Portuguese manager with a long-term plan, they did expect a certain level of improvement, which hasn’t happened.
As a result, there are doubts about his continuity. If they show him the door, they could look at someone like Inzaghi. Meanwhile, Tottenham could also end up parting ways with Ange Postecoglou, who has struggled to get the desired results in his second season at the club.
While injuries have caused problems, Spurs still expected much better results from the team. Inzaghi will be one of their priority targets if they do sack the Australian. The Italian manager’s contract at Inter runs until the summer of 2027, and he is quite happy at the club. But he could opt for a change if there is a decent offer on the table.
