Ayden Heaven shone as Man Utd drew 1-1 with Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United stars piled the praise on defender Ayden Heaven after he made his Premier League debut against Arsenal at the weekend. The 18-year-old shone against his former club after he was brought on to replace the injured Leny Yoro at half-time of the Old Trafford clash.
United fans feared the worst when they saw fellow teenager Yoro forced off at the interval, but their worries were alleviated when Heaven replaced him in a tremendous defensive display. The former Arsenal centre-back coped with the physical demands of the Premier League encounter and also looked composed on the ball as part of Ruben Amorim's three-man backline.
Heaven has now made two senior appearances for the United first-team since he joined from Arsenal in the winter transfer window and he could feature again when they host Real Sociedad in their crucial Europa League last 16 second-leg later this week. If that is the case, he certainly has the backing of his teammates to shine once again.
Manchester United duo praise 'five star' Ayden Heaven
Ayden Heaven took to social media after his Manchester United league debut against Arsenal and uploaded a series of pictures on his Instagram account with the caption '#premierleague.' Heaven only made one 10-minute cameo during his five-year spell in North London when he featured from the bench in their Carabao Cup victory over Preston North End last year.
The 18-year-old was bombarded with congratulatory messages after the performance, with praise from many of his new teammates. Chido Obi and Toby Collyer both commented love heart emojis on the upload, while Alejandro Garnacho wrote 'what a player', followed by a flame emoji. Joshua Zirkzee posted five gold star emojis as he gave his verdict on the impressive defensive showing.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Ruben Amorim gave his verdict on the teenage defender and provided a brief update on Yoro's injury situation. "Ayden is so relaxed, sometimes he is too relaxed!" he told reporters. "I think we have a player there that we have to control. Leny has something in his foot. We will see if he is available for Thursday."
