The San Antonio Spurs begin a four-game homestand tonight when they host the Dallas Mavericks. The Spurs actually play six of their next seven games at the Frost Bank Center.

San Antonio, 26-36, went 0-2 on a two-game road trip. After losing to the Sacramento Kings in De’Aaron Fox’s homecoming, the Spurs were defeated by the Minnesota Timberwolves last night.

This will also be a back-to-back for the Mavericks, who have a record of 32-33. Last night, Dallas lost to the Phoenix Suns, which was their fifth loss in a row.

Currently, the Spurs are the 13th seed in the Western Conference, while the Mavericks are the tenth seed.

Luka Doncic Trade Still Unbelievable

This will be the first time the Spurs play the Mavericks since Dallas completed the shocking trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. It was considered possibly the most surprising trade in NBA history — and has worked out disastrously for the Mavericks.

Dallas is on pace to miss the playoffs, while Doncic and the Lakers are currently the second seed in the West.

San Antonio Spurs Injury Update

Unfortunately, there are some added players on the injury report for the Spurs. We know that Victor Wembanyama is out for the season with a blood clot. Charles Bassey will miss another game due to a knee injury.

Rookie sensation Stephon Castle is questionable for tonight’s affair with a shoulder bruise. Even worse, Jeremy Sochan is doubtful with a calf injury.

Dallas Mavericks Injury Update

While the Spurs are dealing with a few injuries, the Mavs are dealing with a laundry list of injuries. Kyrie Irving is out for the season with a torn ACL. Anthony Davis, who was acquired in the Doncic trade, is out with an adductor injury. And that’s just the beginning.

Dereck Lively II, Daniel Gafford, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, PJ Washington, Kai Jones and Jaden Hardy will all miss the game against the Spurs. Brandon Williams is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury.

So, yeah, the Mavs will be amazingly short-handed tonight.

Betting Guide: Spurs vs. Mavericks

The Spurs are favored by seven points and the over/under is 232. The smart money is on the Spurs winning by eight or more points. Dallas is missing a ton of players and even though San Antonio has played poorly lately, they should have enough firepower to get a double-digit home win this evening.
