New Kevin Durant Update After Grizzlies Trade Report

Now in his second full season with the Phoenix Suns, it seems likely that Kevin Durant's time with the team is approaching its end. The Suns are currently 30-34 and own the No. 11 seed in the Western Conference. While a postseason appearance is not entirely out of the picture, they have still underachieved regardless.

As it stands, the Suns are expected to move on from Durant in the offseason. So far, multiple teams like the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves have been linked to the former MVP. However, another team to keep an eye on is the Memphis Grizzlies.

Ahead of last month's NBA Trade Deadline, former Golden State Warriors executive Bob Myers may have leaked that the Grizzlies pursued Durant. Now, over a month later, a new report has surfaced regarding a potential trade that would send Durant to Memphis and certainly pique fans' interest.

Though a trade did not come to fruition last month, it does not appear that the Grizzlies' dream of landing Durant is over. Recently, Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic reported what Phoenix's asking price for Durant is, and it sounds like something up Memphis' alley.

"Sources informed The Republic the most ideal return on a Durant trade is regaining three first-round picks and a young player as part of a multi-team deal tied to getting under the second apron."

Adding Durant would provide a huge boost for the Grizzlies. Despite being 36 years old, the Suns star is still a top player in the league and would help the team's aspirations of winning a title. By all accounts, it sounds like Durant's time in Phoenix is over. Whether he ends up in Memphis or not is something to monitor throughout the offseason.
