The Las Vegas Raiders and Green Bay Packers are seemingly joined at the hip. Ever since the two franchises struck a deal for star wide receiver Davante Adams in 2022, the Packers have acquired several former Raiders, including running back Josh Jacobs, cornerback Keisan Nixon, and special teams coach Rich Bisaccia.
On Monday, the NFL's legal tampering period of free agency began, and the two teams have found themselves intertwined once again. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero announced that Raiders cornerback Nate Hobbs will be signing with the Packers on a four-year, $48 million deal with $16 of it guaranteed at signing.
Hobbs was a fifth-round selection by the Raiders in 2021 and has been a key contributor under defensive coordinator Patrick Graham for the last four seasons. In 2024, he totaled 49 tackles, five passes defended and an interception in just 11 games.
His biggest shortcoming, however, is his lack of availability. Hobbs has missed 17 games in just four seasons, which means he only played in 75% of the Raiders' games during his tenure with the team. Las Vegas' new regime was hesitant to give Hobbs such a large contract because of that fact, but the Packers are seemingly undeterred.
There are several cornerbacks available in free agency still, most notably Byron Murphy of the Minnesota Vikings. If the team opts to look at the draft, there are a handful of good options at the top of the board like Michigan's Will Johnson or Texas' Jahdae Barron. Kentucky's Maxwell Hairston and Iowa State's Darien Porter could be mid-round steals as well.
