Aaron Banks makes big move in free agency: signs four year, up to $77 million deal with Green Bay Packers. Green Bay’s investment in addressing its offensive line woes was signals for a brighter future for Jordan Love.

Aaron Banks History

Six foot five, 325 pounds, Aaron Banks was drafted in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the 49ers out of Notre Dame. He saw starts in 2022 after a quiet rookie season and has been a key contributor to one of the league’s best offensive lines. Banks built a reputation as a starter over his three seasons of playing, highlighting how big, strong, and able he was to protect a quarterback.

In the 2024 regular season, Aaron Banks allowed 471 pass-blocking snaps without allowing more than one sack and 25 total pressures. Late in the season, he was hurt with an MCL injury that took him out for the final two games, but he has pretty much been a reliable presence on the line for the past three seasons. And in 2023, his performance against the pressure allowed was a career high with 36, but he didn’t have a sack in this.

With this signing, the Packers have filled a huge hole at the offensive line, giving quarterback Jordan Love better protection and run blocking. After the Los Angeles Rams traded Jonah Jackson to the Chicago Bears and the Kansas City Chiefs placed the franchise tag on Trey Smith, Banks was the top guard available in free agency.

However, for Green Bay, this move is the realization of a need to stock the offensive front for a young quarterback as they look to compete for a playoff run in the NFC. With Banks now in the fold, the Packers’ offensive line looks poised to be a more formidable unit in the coming season.
