West Ham were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle in the Premier League on Monday evening.

The Hammers were sunk by a Bruno Guimaraes strike in the 63rd minute and could not find a leveller despite desperately pushing.

Graham Potter‘s side find themselves 16th in the table with 10 matches left to play after the disappointing result.

Here, West Ham Zone rates the Irons players out of 10.

Alphonse Areola – 6

The Frenchman made a stunning save to keep the Hammers in the contest after a deflected shot but could not stop the opener just a few minutes later.

Todibo flops for West Ham in dismal loss

Jean-Clair Todibo – 3 (off for Mavropanos, 65)

The French defender was hooked after 65 minutes after a disappointing display against Eddie Howe’s side in which he was dismal in the air.

Max Kilman – 6

Kilman was excellent with the ball at his feet and constantly active defensively when the Magpies were threatening the Hammers goal.

Aaron Cresswell – 4 (off for Ferguson, 69)

Cresswell was hooked after 69 minutes after struggling to influence the clash at either end in a poor showing for the veteran.

Oliver Scarles – 6

The 19-year-old impressed as he was constantly trying to win the ball back and was not phased by Newcastle’s dangerous attackers.

Tomas Soucek – 5 (off for Soler, 65)

The Czech international was solid in the air but was dribbled past too often and could not offer the usual reliable presence that he normally does when his side do not have the ball.

James Ward-Prowse – 5 (off for Ings, 84)

Constantly trying to make it happen but could not pull off a magic moment for the Hammers but was solid from a defensive perspective.

Edson Alvarez – 5 (off for Paqueta, 65)

The Mexican was sloppy with his passing but made up for it with his defensive workrate when Potter’s side lost the ball.

Jarrod Bowen – 5

An unusually quiet night for the Irons’ star man as he struggled to exert his influence on proceedings and failed to create a single chance.
