Aaron Rodgers to the Pittsburgh Steelers on paper doesn’t sound like a perfect fit, but the latter has been one of the most stable franchises in the NFL and just needs a solid quarterback to take them to the next level.
The former needs a strong cast of weapons, a good offensive line, and a quality defense to make one last championship run. Whether or not he can captain that team to success is still a question mark, as well as the New York Jets had quite the talent pool last season.
Rodgers did little with that franchise and ultimately missed the playoffs. However, the Steelers have an elite coaching staff and just acquired former Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf to strengthen their offensive arsenal.
The Steelers, even without Rodgers, should be a playoff-contending team, and if he can get back to even an average level, they should have what it takes to contend for a championship. There are a few big ifs in there, though.
That said, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, this could be a realistic possibility.
Steelers continue talking to Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, but…Aaron Rodgers has emerged as a quarterback option in Pittsburgh, per league sources.

It’s also worth noting that the Jets just agreed to a deal with Fields, so he’s no longer an option for the Steelers.
The Cincinnati Bengals get to see Pittsburgh twice, once at home and once on the road. Having a legend like Rodgers in the division might bode well for views, but it is pretty difficult to understand if it is the right move for the Steelers. The Jets finished just 5-12 in the season and had -66 net points in 2024, so Rodgers’s team certainly didn’t live up to expectations.
Regardless, though, it would be entertaining. Rodgers ended last season with 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 63% completion rate.
