Bengals land Eagles defender Oren Burks

The Cincinnati Bengals are on the board again, this time agreeing to a deal with Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Oren Burks.

According to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, the Bengals have agreed to a two-year deal worth $5 million and a chance to compete for a starting spot on Al Golden’s defense.

Originally a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Burks spent four seasons with the Green Bay Packers before signing with the San Francisco 49ers for two seasons before joining the Eagles this past season. He’s appeared in two Super Bowls, winning one this past season in Philly.

In 2024, Burks appeared in 17 regular-season games (two starts), making 41 tackles, two forced fumbles, two tackles for loss, and one pass deflection. Then in the NFL Playoffs, he appeared in four games (three starts), registering 25 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, two QB hits, two forced fumbles, and one pass deflection, so he produced big-time in the postseason.

This comes as starting linebacker Germaine Pratt recently requested a trade, though there’s a real chance the Bengals will end up cutting him instead. Then again, with Burks getting a fairly minimal deal, you have to wonder if keeping Pratt is still on the table.
