Bruno Guimaraes scored the only goal of the game as Newcastle United won 1-0 away to West Ham United.
Newcastle United moved up to sixth in the Premier League table, level on points with fifth place Manchester City, following a 1-0 win at West Ham United.
A tight and scrappy affair was decided by Bruno Guimaraes’ goal in the 63rd minute. The win comes after a challenging week where the Magpies lost Anthony Gordon to suspension and Lewis Hall and Sven Botman to injury ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
Reacting to the result, Magpies’ boss Eddie Howe said: "One of our best wins of the season, not in terms of performance but desire and heart.
"All the big ingredients you need to be a successful team. Need to win when the game is tight and find a way to get over the line. We defended really well after the first three minutes which were a bit scary. Deserved win.

"That’s why for me it was such a good win, it would be easy for the players to be distracted but they were present.
"I felt we were in need of a win to go into the final with a real boost and lift. Will do us the world of good. Also for our league table position today was vital.
West Ham complain about Newcastle United’s goal
Newcastle are now unbeaten in their last six visits to the London Stadium, winning four and drawing two.
But West Ham defender Max Kilman felt the Magpies were fortunate to come away with three points, claiming he was fouled in the build-up to Guimaraes’ goal.
When Harvey Barnes delivered his cross, Kilman was pushed in the back by Alexander Isak.
Asked if it was a foul, Kilman told Sky Sports Football: “100%. I jumped in the air and I felt a hard push. I felt like it was a foul and I felt like it should have been given. Of course, we had chances after that so it is hard to take – we have got to move on.”
Meanwhile, Hammers boss Graham Potter said: "The goal was disappointing, we felt there was a push on Max. It’s two hands on the back. It’s a push. You can see from Isak’s non celebration he thinks it's a push. Clear for us but I'm not VAR.”
